I spent much of the early Fall of this year trying to taste as many California Sparklers as I could. During my journey, I think I covered (and visited) most of the méthode champenoise California producers, minus Equinox. There was some good, some bad, and some ugly. I'll present you my findings uncensored and hope that you will find them helpful. The first three from my journey are Iron Horse, Domaine Carneros, and Roederer Estate. All the tasting notes here are from Sept/Oct 2006 tastings. I have had many of these wines before, but it really helps to put everything into context and paint a complete picture when you can have them all together in a similar timeframe. I may make mention to how a wine tasted in the past, but what matters is how it tastes now and how it may evolve in the future. There are plenty more to come, but here a few to whet your appetite.
